Painting of Hari Lualhati has been selected for a trip to the Moon

Cape Town based artist Hari Lualhati has exhibited her work in different parts of the world. Now her work is heading to the Moon. 

Hari Lualhati has been personally invited and hand-picked to be part of the “THE LUNAR CODEX / ARTISTS ON THE MOON  PROJECT”.  The artist’s painting titled “Wholehearted” will be in a time capsule to preserve it for generations and will be sent to the moon by November this year. https://www.lunarcodex.com/gallery-e 

The project is the work of physicist and author Dr. Peralta.  "I found out that I could send my poetry and stories to the Moon … that gave me incredible joy, and I wanted to spread that joy," Dr Peralta said.

Dr Peralta said during the selection process he used art catalogues and magazines that referenced work that had been curated in galleries.

"The works are largely figurative realism. That is because that is the area I specialise in as an art lover and collector," he said.

Renowned artist, Hari Lualhati is an award-winning painter who’s works have touched the hearts of many and have been exhibited in Philippines, HongKong, South Africa, Italy, Germany, Armenia, Ukraine, Spain, Israel, Sweden, and Prague.

Oil Painting of Hari Lualhati titled "Wholehearted" has been chosen to be digitised and sent to the moon.

The work of Hari Lualhati will be part of "The Nova Collection”, it will be digitalised wherein they will use a laser to etch the image onto a microfilm of nickel and place it in a time capsule that will be flying on NASA partner Intuitive Machines Nova-C Lunar Lander, launching November 2021 via SpaceX Falcon 9 rocket to the Oceanus Procellarum region of the Moon. It is then documented on the Lunar Codex website as the definitive list of artists that includes Hari Lualhati, whose work is in the time capsule.

"The Nova Collection" expands on "The Peregrine Collection" of creative artists (and one A.I.) whose works are onboard Astrobotic's Peregrine Lunar Lander, bound for Lacus Mortis 4Q2021 via a United Launch Alliance rocket, to a total of 1500+ creative artists (and one A.I.).
